Please Hear My Plea.

What is a plea bargain in criminal law?  It is an agreement between a defendant and a prosecutor, in which the defendant agrees to plead guilty or perhaps “no contest” in exchange for an agreement by the prosecutor to drop one or more charges, reduce a charge to a less serious offense, or recommend to the judge a specific sentence that the defense finds agreeable.

To be sure, it is a delicate dance.  As criminal courts become more and more crowded, prosecutors as well as judges feel increased pressure to move cases quickly through the system.  Think of it this way…a criminal trial can take days, weeks, or sometimes months, while plea deals can often be arranged in minutes.

However, they don’t just happen unless you obtain aggressive representation in an Ohio criminal court.  Akron attorney Jon Sinn has proven his expertise in obtaining plea deals in the criminal courts of Northeast Ohio.  Many times, the only sin you have committed is not calling Jon.  Ohio criminal attorney Jon Sinn can be reached by calling (330) 431-0160.

Fentanyl and Cocaine…A Deadly Cocktail.

Thousands of Ohio residents have died in recent years because of the introduction of fentanyl into the already prevalent supply of cocaine.  In 2017, cocaine-fentanyl mixtures killed more people than heroin-fentanyl combinations.  This deadly cocaine-fentanyl pattern continued in 2018 and shows no sign of ameliorating.

Fentanyl (an opiate) is not a natural, mass scale adulterant for cocaine which is a stimulant.  Fentanyl adulteration of the cocaine supply is occurring here, at the bottom of the supply chain, at the level of local dealers, street dealers and even users.  Make no mistake about it…The Buckeye State has a fentanyl problem.

That DOES NOT mean that you are guilty if you have been arrested on a charge of possessing or distributing cocaine or fentanyl!  I am here to make sure that you are aggressively represented in Ohio Criminal Court.  My name is Jon Sinn an Akron criminal lawyer.  Many times, the only sin you may have committed is NOT calling me…attorney Jon Sinn at (330) 431-0160.

Criminal Homicide in Ohio.

Merriam-Webster defines homicide as, “a killing of one human being by another.”  How does it affect the individual?  “A person commits criminal homicide if they intentionally, knowingly, or with criminal negligence causes the death of an individual.”  There are actually four different types of homicide in Ohio.

They are –

1.  Murder…intentionally and knowingly taking someone’s life.
2.  Capital Murder…the killing of a police officer or fire fighter.
3.  Manslaughter…recklessly causing the death of another individual.
4.  Criminally Negligent Homicide…some accidental killings fall into this category.

If you or a loved one are accused of any of the above four types of homicide, please immediately seek the services of a top criminal defense attorney.  That man in Akron and Northeast Ohio is Jon Sinn.  Take a look at his profile at sinnlaw.com.  Many times, the only sin you may have committed is NOT calling Jon.  Criminal defense lawyer Jon Sinn at (330) 431-0160.

The Horror of Fentanyl.

That is what illegal and indiscriminate use of this powerful drug have become in the State of Ohio.  Deaths from fentanyl, an opiate that is 30 to 50 times more potent than heroin, have skyrocketed in Ohio in recent years.  The Ohio Department of Health is gravely concerned because its use is growing rapidly across the state.

I want you to know that in Ohio, the penalties for drug offenses depend on how much of a drug and what type of a drug is involved.  That particular measurement is called a "bulk amount" and it's differs with each drug.  Currently state law would punish someone with a fourth-degree felony if they were found with just under 1 kilogram of marijuana, just under 10 grams of cocaine or crack or just under 5 grams of heroin.

Regardless of the charge ranging from possession and distribution of fentanyl down to possession of marijuana I will defend you.  My name is Jon Sinn.  I am an Akron Ohio drug defense attorney.  Many times, the only sin you may have committed is not calling me right away.  Attorney Jon Sinn at (330) 431-0160.

The Heat is On.

In the summer the weather is not the only thing that heats up in Ohio.  Tempers do the same!  There is a clear relationship between warmer weather and hotter tempers.  In one study done by Dr. Leah Schinasi, published in the Journal of Urban Health, it showed that disorderly conduct increased when daily temperatures are higher.

Overall, crime rates were highest in the warmest months of the year—May through September—and highest on the hottest days.  For example, when the heat index is over 90 degrees, rates of violent crime were 9 percent higher compared to days when the temperature was 57 degrees.  It just makes sense…the hotter it is the shorter are people’s tempers.

Akron criminal defense attorney Jon Sinn understands that, and with summer upon us there will probably be a rise in violent crime in the Northeast Ohio area.  Being arrested for a violent crime does not make you guilty.  Sometimes the only sin you may have committed is NOT calling Jon.  Attorney Jon Sinn at (330) 431-0160.

Guns in Vehicles in Ohio.

I don’t think I have to tell you that you are treading on dangerous ground here.  How does the state of Ohio treat this?  The Buckeye State prohibits any person from knowingly transporting or having in a motor vehicle a loaded firearm that is accessible to the operator or any passenger who has not left the vehicle.

Here MAY be some exceptions –

1.  The gun is unloaded
2.  It is in an enclosed package or case
3.  It is placed in a rack holder specifically made to carry that firearm
4.  The length of the firearm and barrel may also play a part

Being arrested in the state of Ohio on a charge of transporting a firearm or having it in your car does NOT necessarily mean you are guilty.  So pick up your phone immediately and call weapons charge defense attorney Jon Sinn.  Many times, the only sin you may have committed is not calling Jon.  Seek the council of Akron criminal lawyer Jon Sinn by calling (330) 431-0160.
