I Understand…You Can No Longer Live Without It.

At the turn of the century cell phones were a luxury, now they are a virtual necessity.  Ohio takes the same stance as most other states.  Children under 18 are completely prohibited from using a cell phone in the car.  Drivers under the age of 18 can’t text, surf the web, play games, or even talk on their cell.  It is tantamount to taking away TV decades ago!

At least for drivers over the age of 18 you can talk on the phone.  Texting or emailing is still very much illegal.  How common is it?  Well, about 20% of all drivers nationwide admit to texting and driving!  I understand that today’s American (or Ohioan) feels the need to respond to a text or a call within five minutes, but you know the potential consequences.

While I cannot change the habits of drivers in the Buckeye State, I can defend them when they are arrested on charges which include using a cell phone while driving.  This is usually a charge that has more layers than just a cell phone.  My name is Jon Sinn.  I am an Akron-based criminal defense attorney.  Sometimes the only sin you may have committed is not calling me…Jon Sinn at (330) 431-0160.

Does Your DUI Defense Attorney Know as Much as the Cops?

Police Officers are always on the lookout for traffic violations such as speeding, improper lane usage or driving with the headlights off.  These seemingly innocuous violations then resulted in many DUI arrests in the Akron area, but it also created a problem because experienced DUI defense attorneys were able to “poke holes” in the reason for the traffic stop.

Then there is erratic driving.  The most common situation is when cars are drifting across lanes. This is a tell-tale sign of drunk driving.  The proliferation of cell phones over the past two decades has made this a common occurrence.  So, is it careless distracted driving of which the driver is guilty, or a full-fledged DUI?

There is a Northeast Ohio attorney who has taken the same advanced training as the police so if it gets to court, he can beat them at their own game.  His name is Jon Sinn.  Jon used to work for the prosecution, so he knows all the angles.  Sometimes the only sin you may have committed is NOT calling Jon…Akron defense attorney Jon Sinn at (330) 431-0160.
