Being Close to Loved Ones is Not Always What It’s Cracked up to Be.

It has been a bi-product of 2020. We are confined to quarters and, as a result, familiarity may sometimes breed contempt. There is new data emerging as to the need to strengthen programs that help prevent and respond to domestic violence. There were 109 Ohioans who died as the result of domestic violence in the year ending June 30, 2020!

But, what happens when tempers rise and you are accused of domestic violence unfairly? While the data is extremely useful to help domestic-violence organizations and law enforcement evaluate interventions such as protection orders and identify ways to prevent violence fatalities, many times it comes down to “he said, she said".

That is where Akron, Ohio domestic violence defense attorney Jon Sinn comes in. If you have been accused of domestic violence in Northeast Ohio call Jon Sinn right away and visit his website at sinnlaw.com. Call 24 hours a day at (330) 431-0160.

The Heat is On.

We know that summer heat accelerates domestic violence, but we didn’t see THIS coming!  It seems to be simple social math that familiarity breeds contempt and that can cause the kind of discomfort that may lead to anger and irritation.  Heaven knows we have been through plenty of  challenges this year.

Here is what I can tell you from my twenty plus years of experience defending domestic violence charges in Northeast Ohio…alcohol is often the trigger from which the violence stems.  The kids are home from school which we certainly did not expect and the level of patience in adults can go down exponentially.

If you or a loved one has been arrested on a charge of domestic violence you have a friend in me.  I am Akron Ohio criminal defense attorney Jon Sinn.  You know, sometimes the only sin you may have committed is not calling me…Jon Sinn.  This is a critical time.  Please don’t waste another minute and call me at (330) 431-0160.

The Heat is On.

In the summer the weather is not the only thing that heats up in Ohio.  Tempers do the same!  There is a clear relationship between warmer weather and hotter tempers.  In one study done by Dr. Leah Schinasi, published in the Journal of Urban Health, it showed that disorderly conduct increased when daily temperatures are higher.

Overall, crime rates were highest in the warmest months of the year—May through September—and highest on the hottest days.  For example, when the heat index is over 90 degrees, rates of violent crime were 9 percent higher compared to days when the temperature was 57 degrees.  It just makes sense…the hotter it is the shorter are people’s tempers.

Akron criminal defense attorney Jon Sinn understands that, and with summer upon us there will probably be a rise in violent crime in the Northeast Ohio area.  Being arrested for a violent crime does not make you guilty.  Sometimes the only sin you may have committed is NOT calling Jon.  Attorney Jon Sinn at (330) 431-0160.

Domestic Violence…A Very Complicated Topic.

No one would dispute that domestic violence is very serious and occurs everywhere in the U.S.  We in Northeast Ohio are faced with the reality of these charges every day.  There are, however, many situations where someone can be wrongly accused of domestic violence.  Many spouses will use false claims of physical and emotional abuse.

Some of the reasons are –

1.  Getting a significant other out of one’s life
2.  To win a child custody battle
3.  Gain possession of property
4.  To just get even when someone is told that the other party wants a divorce

Certainly, not all accusations of domestic violence are legitimate.  That is why Jon Sinn, a noted Akron area criminal defense attorney is there to help.  He has been defending Ohio residents of domestic violence charges for many years.  Sometimes, the only sin you may have committed is NOT calling Jon.  He is attorney Jon Sinn of Akron OH at (330) 431-0160.

Be Aware of Domestic Violence EVERY Month.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) evolved from the "Day of Unity" held in October 1981 and conceived by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The intent was to connect advocates across the nation who were working to end violence against women and their children.

In October 1987, the first Domestic Violence Awareness Month was observed. That same year marked the initiation of the first national domestic violence toll-free hotline. In 1989, the U.S. Congress passed Public Law 101-112 designating October of that year as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

The reason for the history lesson is to make us all constantly vigilant as to the ever-present possibility of domestic violence occurring in our lives.  If you have been accused of such a crime you need to call Akron domestic violence lawyer Jon Sinn.  For aggressive representation the only sin is not calling Jon.  Attorney Jon Sinn at (330) 431-0160.

Turn up the Heat…Turn up the Anger.

No question about it…the summer heat can make tempers heat up as well.  Sometimes it results in the accusation of domestic violence against another.  This is a crime that may either be a felony or a misdemeanor depending on the circumstances.  Also, any prior convictions play a major role in that decision.

In the state of Ohio, the crime of domestic violence involves violence or threatened violence against a family or household member. Someone commits domestic violence when he or she knowingly or even accidentally inflicts bodily harm on another.  Even the threat of said, could result in a charge if someone feels they are in danger.

This crime has many gray areas.  It often boils down to “he said she said”.  To defend yourself against such a charge you need an attorney that has defended these cases in the Buckeye State for decades.  Just such a man is Jon Sinn.  He is the right person to call to fight against a charge of domestic violence in the Akron area.  The only sin is NOT calling Jon at (330) 431-0160.

Being Charged with Domestic Violence.

Domestic violence is on the rise…especially with advent of summer.  Hotter temperatures often bring shorter tempers.  In the state of Ohio domestic violence is defined as causing or attempting to cause harm to a family or household member.  Men and women can be perpetrators of this crime and men, women, as well as minors can be victims. These cases can be especially challenging for law enforcement as the police are most often not there when violence occurs.

On the scene when the police arrive the truth has shades of gray and the police don’t get all the right information before accusing someone of domestic violence.  At this moment it is imperative to STAY CALM.  Let the police sort out the situation and do their job even if the initial results are not to your liking.  As the old saying goes in the vernacular, ”don’t make no trouble”.

If you are the one who gets carted off to jail, DO NOT CALL the person you had the disagreement with and definitely don’t discuss the case with anyone.  If you must make a call to someone to arrange for assistance don’t discuss your case at all.  Everything you say is being recorded.  Akron Ohio domestic violence defense attorney Jon Sinn can and will help you fight your case. Call attorney Jon Sinn at (330) 431-0160.
