Jon Sinn Ohio Criminal Defense Attorney.

Almost thirty years ago, in 1994 Jon Sinn went from the University of Akron directly into the Summit County Prosecutors office. It didn’t take Jon long to become the chief of his division. However, lawyer Jon Sinn was not satisfied with being a member of the prosecution team.

In the year 2000 the Akron criminal attorney got tired of locking people up and turned his attention to helping folks in need. That is when Jon Sinn became a defender of the accused…an Akron criminal defense lawyer.

Over the decades, the people of Northeast Ohio have been very fortunate to have a defender of men and women accused of crimes. If you or a loved one is accused of a criminal act, you need a champion like Jon Sinn Akron Ohio defense attorney! Call his number any time.

Felony Drug Possession is Very Intimidating.

Felony drug possession charges in Ohio is a very serious criminal offense on both the state and federal level.  If you are convicted of felony drug possession, you will face serious consequences which may very well entail lengthy prison time as well as hefty fines and you’ll need to get into the best shape of your life because your driver’s license will probably be suspended.

This falls under the possession of controlled substances in the Ohio Revised Code.   The law states that possession of controlled substances is knowingly obtaining, possessing, or using a controlled substance.  Let’s take a look at what that includes.  In Ohio that means marijuana, cocaine, LSD, heroin, and methamphetamines.

If you or a loved one has been arrested in The Buckeye State for felony drug possession it is overwhelming!  Calmly, but confidently pick up your phone and call Akron drug defense attorney Jon Sinn at (330) 431-0160.  Many times the only sin you have committed is NOT calling Jon…Ohio criminal defense attorney Jon Sinn.

The History of Criminal Justice.

So, how did we get to where we are today?  Law enforcement in ancient China was administered by “prefects”.  Under the rule of Dang Lin Wang a new judicial system began to emerge.  Prefects usually reported to the local magistrate, just as modern police report to judges.  Prefects were responsible for handling investigations, much like modern police detectives.

In ancient Rome and Greece duties associated with modern police enforcement were done by private citizens.  The Roman Empire somehow managed to maintain civil order until its fall.  Believe it or not, the city of Rome never had an actual police force!  By the reign of Augustus Rome had a population of over one million citizens.

Today, when someone is accused of a crime they seek the services of a great criminal attorney.  One of the very best is Akron Ohio DUI and criminal lawyer Jon Sinn.  Having worked for both sides, nobody knows better than Jon that the only sin you may have committed is NOT calling him right away.  From his family to yours Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.

Hot Weather…Hot Tempers.

Let’s start with a simple fact…relationships are hard!  You have to work on them virtually every day.  When the weather heats up in Northeast Ohio, sometimes so do tempers.  The end of the school year is a welcomed time in many households.  Unfortunately, it has been statistically shown that domestic violence incidents increase in the summer months.

The stress increases with kids underfoot.  Hot summer temps make everyone uncomfortable.  More family gatherings = potentially more alcohol.  Remain aware and take a deep breath and try to avoid being caught up in the maelstrom of domestic violence this summer.  A tranquil situation can turn violent in seconds.

Above all else, if you have been accused of domestic violence in the Akron OH area immediately contact Northeast Ohio criminal attorney Jon Sinn.  There are at least two sides to every domestic violence story and the only sin you may have committed is NOT calling Jon right away.  He is domestic violence lawyer Jon Sinn at (330) 431-0160.

Ohio’s New Laws.

Hey folks, Ohio lawmakers have been very busy lately.  Just recently the state has passed more than 50 new laws.  Everything from health, education, animals, minimum wage, motorists, and firearms has been addressed.  You might be very surprised what new laws have cropped up which take effect this year.

Take the issue of firearms, for instance.  Ohioans can now carry concealed firearms in places like daycare centers, public areas of airports and in school safety zones. Colleges and universities may allow weapons on their campuses. Privately-owned businesses can still issue bans in their facilities. Ohioans will also be able to keep their guns in their cars, regardless of the location of the vehicle.

What you don’t know could hurt you!  If you or a loved one is detained or arrested on a charge of one of the Buckeye State’s new laws call a criminal defense attorney immediately.  That man, for many years in Northeast Ohio is Jon Sinn.  The only sin is NOT calling Jon.  He is attorney Jon Sinn at (330) 431-0160.

Selling the ‘Stuff is Very Serious.

Many people in this country use recreational drugs.  That is simply a fact of life whether you are one of them or not.  By the way, you are not a pariah if you are!  There is a huge leap between user and seller.  You know that ahead of time.  That still does not mean that generally good people could get caught up in the maelstrom.

Getting caught up in the drug game can be as simple as running out of options and needing to have a roof over your head or feeding your family.  We are not moralizing here…we are talking about the reality of life for some people in America.  Make no mistake about it, Ohio has been in the middle of many of those situations.

There is an attorney in Northeast Ohio who understands that selling a drug and getting arrested does NOT make you a horrible person!  Attorney Jon Sinn has been on both sides of this issue.  At one time, he helped prosecute accused drug dealers…now he vigorously defends Akron Ohio alleged drug dealers.  The only sin is NOT calling Jon.  Attorney Jon Sinn at (330) 431-0160.

The Tragedy of Aggravated Murder.

It does not get any worse than this.  When someone has been accused of aggravated murder the stakes are high.  If someone is accused of killing someone in this state it is generally called a homicide.  You may think that murder is the same no matter what.  In the state of Ohio, however there are different categories of homicide.

Let’s explore the charge of aggravated murder.  What are some of the components?

1.  Purposely killing a law enforcement officer (too much in the news these days)
2.  Killing someone and terminating their pregnancy
3.  Killing a pre-teen child
4.  The taking of another life while in prison

If you or a loved one has been accused of this crime immediate action is necessary.  In Northeast Ohio many have turned to Jon Sinn.  He is an Akron Ohio aggravated murder defense lawyer.  You will need the most dogged defense you can find!  The only sin is NOT calling Jon.  Attorney Jon Sinn at (330) 431-0160.

Definition of Assault and Battery.

Assault is defined as any reasonable threat to a person while battery is defined as the use of force against another person with the primary intent of causing physical harm.  An assault charge may come from someone “feeling” threatened by one’s actions.  When battery is the charge then there has been actual bodily harm inflicted.

Here are the elements of battery –

1.  A volitional or voluntary act of violence against another.
2.  Done with purposeful intent of causing harmful or offensive contact to another.
3.  An example would be throwing a rock at someone that actually hits them.

Both assault and battery are criminal offenses.  That is the important point here.  It may be treated as a misdemeanor or as a felony depending on the severity of the situation.  If you are charged with one of these crimes immediately call Jon Sinn.  He is Akron’s assault and battery defense attorney.  The only sin is not calling Jon at (303) 431-0160.

OVI, DWI, DUI.

These are three acronyms with which we don’t want to be faced.  In the State of Ohio you should at least be familiar with them.  When it gets right down to it we are saying the same thing when describing these three driving offenses.  It means someone has been arrested for operating their vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Here are some of the extenuating circumstances with which you need to be aware –

1.  You may have difficulty keeping your current employment.
2.  This goes hand-in-hand with #1, but you may find it very difficult to get another job.
3.  Maintaining your license to drive a “company vehicle” may become challenging.
4.  Possible denial of immigration proceedings…a hot button issue these days.

While you do not need to understand the specific nuances of these acronyms you DO need to hire someone who can defend you if you have been arrested.  The answer in Northeast Ohio is always Akron OVI, DWI, AND DUI defense attorney Jon Sinn.  Remember…the only sin is NOT calling Jon at (330) 431-0160.

Remember this one?

Several years ago a man by the name of Vernon Singleton was in the news in Northeast Ohio.  He had been accused of the murder in the shooting death of an 11-year old in Akron back in August of 2011.  Twenty-six year old Vernon Singleton was arrested and charged with the girl’s murder.

Just days before the trial was to begin in July of 2012 Mr. Singleton was release from the Summit County jail.  Just like so many other young men he was already tried in the court of public opinion.  In this case, the charges were dismissed without prejudice and Vernon walked away from the situation a free man.

Vernon Singleton could not have done all of this without the aggressive representation of Northeast Ohio criminal attorney Jon Sinn.  It was a life or death situation for him and by choosing the correct representation life began anew for him.  What about you or a loved one?  The only sin is not calling Jon.  Jon Sinn at (330) 431-0160.

Ohio’s New Laws for Motorists.

We are a quarter of the way through 2017 and you probably are not aware that the Ohio legislature enacted dozens of new laws that took effect on January 1st.  Some of them may very well have an impact on you and you need to be aware of them.  This is especially true if you get pulled over one of these days for an offense you didn’t even know existed!

Did you know that Ohio motorists must give cyclists a minimum of three feet of clearance when passing?  Also, beginning in 2017 you can actually go through a stop light if it malfunctions and does not detect your vehicle coming to a stop.  If, heaven forbid, someone is killed with a car the driver’s license will be suspended AFTER they get out of prison instead of during their sentence.

We bring up these changes merely to illustrate that the driving laws of Ohio are fluid.  If you or someone you care about is pulled over and ticketed or arrested for a traffic violation, do not hesitate!  Call Northeast Ohio vehicle crime attorney Jon Sinn.  Just remember: the only sin is not calling Jon at (330) 431-0160.

Good People…Bad Drugs.

It could have started during the holidays, or just have been exacerbated at various end-of-the-year parties and gatherings.  You are a good person who takes care of themselves, but you have been taking illegal drugs.  Now the recreational habit has gotten out of hand and you or a loved one have been arrested on a drug possession charge.

It is a process that is as old as the human condition.  The only change has been that in Ohio there is a drug climate that many would say has reached epidemic proportions.  There are about as many ways to get high and escape reality for “a minute” as there are people.  That does not mean someone should be judged for life and hamstrung with a drug conviction.

If you or someone you care about has been arrested and incarcerated seek out the best lawyer possible as quickly as you can.  In Northeast Ohio you have someone who, in the past represented the other side.  That type of knowledge will be invaluable.  He is Summit and Portage County Ohio drug defense attorney Jon Sinn.  The only sin is NOT calling Jon at (330) 431-0160 anytime of the day or night.

When Cabin Fever Goes too Far.

We have been gathering together all Winter.  We had the holidays with “mandatory” parties to attend be it with family or not.  Winter in Northeast Ohio can and does test our patience.  Remember the good old days…two equally matched people would fight, shake hands, and go their separate ways.  Nowadays the police are getting involved more and more.

These incidences often occur between two or more people who are/were close friends and things just got out of hand.  Know this…if the cops are involved somebody is probably getting hauled off to jail.  When the “dust settles” you have a situation that demands a good assault defense lawyer right away.

Since these events have a way of generally occurring late into the night make sure that you are calling someone you can reach quickly.  That person is Akron, Ohio assault and battery defense attorney Jon Sinn.  It is no sin to lose your temper, but it is a sin not to call John to help you or a loved one out of a tough situation.  Call or TEXT attorney Jon Sinn at (303) 431-0160

What is Judicial Release in Ohio?

It may seem obvious, but its consequences are far-reaching for the family of the incarcerated.
Release from prison is granted by a judge who sentences convicted criminals.  If a judge wishes to do so he or she may grant judicial release or “shock probation” as it used to be known.  The offender may be placed in a furlough program.

Each individual is left up to the sentencing judge.  There are many extenuating factors to be considered.  Not the least of which is the behavior of the person while they were incarcerated.  You also must factor in the attitude and the history of the particular judge that you are dealing with in this very delicate matter.

All of which leads us to understand that you need a top attorney to plea your loved one’s case.  That is when you pick up the phone and call Ohio judicial release attorney Jon Sinn.  He has had decades of experience arguing this matter before Northeast Ohio judges.  The only sin is not calling today for a free consultation with Jon Sinn at (330) 431-0160.

Marijuana and The Election.

We are all looking at the 2016 election as one of the most impactful of all time.  Besides the obvious, the decisions that were made about the future of marijuana use in this country were ground-breaking.  Some states legalized its recreational use while others made it available with a doctor’s note.  Whatever the case we are getting closer and closer to the legalization of this controversial drug.

Marijuana has different effects on individuals.  Some people may lose their focus and others report a heightened awareness of their senses.  Did you know that there are more than 400 chemicals in the average marijuana plant?  When it is smoked the heat from that procedure produces even more of them!  This is not meant to scare you, but to remind you that Ohio has not made marijuana use legal…yet.

In changing times such as these it is comforting to know that if you are busted for pot there is a lawyer in Northeast Ohio that will fight for you.  Attorney Jon Sinn is a proud member of the National Association for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.  Do not take a marijuana arrest lightly.  The only sin would be NOT to call John…Ohio weed attorney Jon Sinn at (330) 431-0160.

Using a Handgun in Self-Defense.

What happens when you are arrested for using a handgun?  IF the gun was used in a measure of self-defense the police will probably still confiscate the weapon.  They may also put you in handcuffs and haul you off to the police station.  Even when the shooting takes place late at night in your own home this is likely to occur!

The next thing that the cops will do is take your gun to ballistics to test if your bullets match those that are in the home invader that you shot.  From this point, you hope that the handgun will be returned to you when it is fully determined that this was an act of pure self-defense.  Unfortunately, it does not always go so smoothly.

If you are involved in protecting yourself and/or your property and have shot someone with a legal handgun that you own take swift action.  Call Ohio handgun defense attorney Jon Sinn.  Attorney Sinn knows that good people may sometimes be treated as if they were criminals.  He will fight for your rights in Northeast, Ohio.  The only sin is to not call Jon.  Jon Sinn at (330) 431-0160.

Choosing the Right Criminal Attorney.

What are you looking for in a Northeast Ohio criminal attorney?  Well, it would certainly be nice to know that he has had over two decades of success in defending the accused of our area.  The next thing you might ask is how satisfied are his previous clients?  If that prospective attorney whom you wish to go to battle for you has a PERFECT client satisfaction rating that would be comforting to say the least.

When we say a perfect rating we don’t mean by some organization of which you have never heard.  We are talking about perfection as rated by AVVO (look it up if you don’t know them) and The American Institute of Criminal Law Attorneys.  When you find out that he used to be a senior prosecutor then you know you have chosen someone who knows both sides of the equation.

If all of that sounds too good to be true - trust me, it isn’t.  The attorney who has represented the accused for over twenty years in Akron, Barberton, Bedford, Canton, Cuyahoga Falls, and throughout Northeast Ohio is Jon Sinn.  Attorney Sinn is your best choice for criminal defense in this area.  The only sin is NOT calling Jon.  If you are facing a criminal charge pick up the phone and call (330) 431-0160.

Getting Pulled Over.

When you live around Akron, Ohio with its busy highway system you are the exception rather than the rule if you have been driving for years and never pulled over by the police.  Going over the speed limit, whether it be 5 miles per hour or 25 miles per hour is still a reason for an officer to “do their job”.  Remember that your traffic tickets constitute a big revenue stream!

Think about the importance of hiring a great traffic attorney BEFORE anything happens.  If you wait until you have been found guilty it may be too late.  The right representation may not only reduce or eliminate the fine, but also may help you keep your license, not get “points” on your driving record, and even may be able to keep your insurance from going up if the judge makes a favorable decision.

Let the best go to bat for you in the courts of Northeastern Ohio.  Whether it be Akron, Barberton, Bedford, Canton, Cuyahoga Falls, Revenna, or anywhere in our immediate area, call Jon Sinn.  Attorney Sinn is your traffic attorney in Northeast Ohio.  The only sin is NOT calling Jon.  If you are facing a traffic charge pick up the phone and call (330) 431-0160.

Someone Who Has Seen Both Sides of Criminal Law.

If you have the luxury of hiring someone who has seen the criminal process from both sides wouldn’t you want someone like that to defend you?  It would be someone who understands the nuances of what the prosecution is thinking and what steps to take to defend you.  It would be comforting to know that you are being represented by someone with that sort of 360-degree vision.

Back in 2001, Akron attorney Jon Sinn made a career-altering decision.  He was a younger lawyer with a bright future at The Summit County Prosecutor’s office.  He had already attained the position of senior prosecutor.  He could have played it safe and carved out a wonderful career playing for the prosecution side.  Instead he founded The Law Offices of Jon Sinn, Esq.

Now, 15 years later Attorney Jon Sinn runs the premier boutique criminal law firm in our area.  He serves the counties of Stark, Portage, and Summit in Northeast Ohio.  All too often good people are caught on the wrong side of an unfortunate situation.  They need aggressive representation.  The only sin is NOT calling Jon…attorney Jon Sinn at (330) 431-0160.
