Why this date? What
is significant about that date? It was
the date that “Annie’s Law” became effective.
It brought important changes to Ohio’s drunk driving statutes. Under Ohio law, drunk driving is referred to
as Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated, or more commonly known as
OVI.
Under Annie’s Law, the “look-back” period is now 10 years
instead of the previous 6. For drivers
who are convicted of a second OVI within 10 years of their first, this means
that their punishment is now greatly enhanced.
Also, inherent in “Annie’s Law” is its major emphasis on the use of
ignition interlock devices.
Many times good people make poor judgements and the only sin
you may have committed is not calling Jon.
That’s attorney Jon Sinn, a noted OVI/DUI lawyer located in Akron
defending the accused throughout Northeast Ohio. If you or a loved one is charged with OVI
contact Jon Sinn immediately at (330) 431-0160.
