The Spotlight is on Sex Crimes.

These days sex crimes are magnified.  The “Me Too” movement and other forms of awareness have brought them to the forefront.  Perhaps, there is not another accusation that comes with the public perception of guilt more than being arrested for a sex crime.  The stigma will stay with you and it needs to be aggressively defended.

So many people are falsely accused in this “he-said, she-said scenario”.  It may be a charge of rape, perhaps it is harassment in the workplace, or even unlawful pornography on one’s computer.  Whatever the charge, they all carry the same perception that people seem to have…guilty until proven innocent.

That is NOT how our justice system is supposed to work!  It has to be the other way around.  If you or a loved one has been accused of a sex crime in the state of Ohio, your next call should be to Akron criminal defense attorney Jon Sinn.  The only Sinn you may have committed is not calling Jon.  That’s sex crime defense lawyer Jon Sinn at (330) 431-0160.

OVI vs. DUI.

You may have heard of both acronyms if you live in the Buckeye State.  What is the difference between OVI and DUI in Ohio?  The short answer is nothing.  DUI, of course stands for driving under the influence.  OVI is just a different way of expressing it.  It simply means operating a vehicle while the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Just a reminder… you can be arrested for an OVI if you are found to have a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or higher.  Of course, that is where the Russian Roulette of it all comes into play.  How do you reach that limit?  Are you a five-foot-two 115 pound woman or a six-foot-three 210 pound man?  Alcohol consumption affects us all in a different way.

Here is the bottom line.  If you plead or are found guilty of an OVI or a DUI (a rose by any other name) for the first time, you will be jailed for a minimum of 3 days or up to 6 months and you can be fined up to $1,000!  The only sin you may have committed is not calling Jon Sinn.  He is an Akron Ohio drunk driving defense attorney.  Call him immediately at (330) 431-0160.

Rydell Brooks…One for the Books.

Have you ever heard of this University of Akron student?  He was a sophomore when he and Edward Davis of Akron were charged with attempted murder, felonious assault and carrying a concealed weapon.  The University of Akron basketball player was accused of firing shots at police officers during a traffic stop.  Then guns and masks were found in a van.

For starters, the bond was set at one million dollars!  His grandmother pleaded that the public reserve judgement until all of the facts were in.  When an Akron prosecutor said that there were a total of five guns and two ski masks found inside a 1997 Dodge Caravan that belonged to Brooks following his arrest the task became particularly daunting.

One of the first things that the Brooks family did was to hire Akron area criminal defense attorney Jon Sinn.  Jon has had decades both prosecuting and defending accused criminals in the State of Ohio.  Maybe the only sin that Rydell Brooks committed would have been not calling Jon.  Find out more about this case, and perhaps yours by calling Jon Sinn at (330) 431-0160.

Is it an Illness or Not?

There are varying degrees of opinions about people who are addicted to drugs.  Some say, lock ‘em up and throw away the key.  Others say, rehabilitation may be the right answer.  Sometimes it boils down to this…drug users need the proper treatment and it is entirely possible that drug dealers need better job opportunities where they are not looking over their shoulders.

Attorney Jon Sinn wants you to be aware of this phone number 1-800-662-HELP.
It is a confidential, free, 24-hour-a-day, 365-day-a-year, information service, for individuals and family members facing mental and/or substance use disorders.  Maybe the healing begins with this phone call.

If you or a loved one has been arrested for drug possession or trafficking, please call the Akron law office of Jon Sinn.  Sometimes the only sin you may have committed is not calling Jon.  Drug use, abuse, and distribution will continue in Ohio.  Don’t let it ruin your life!  Call Jon for a consultation at (330) 431-0160.
