Why Should You Call Jon Sinn?

There are many criminal defense attorneys in the Akron area. So, why should you call Jon Sinn when there is an accusation of a criminal nature against you or a loved one? To understand why this might be a great idea let’s take the story back more than a quarter century ago.

In 1994 the lawyer who would become one of Akron Ohio’s most successful defenders graduated from the University of Akron and went immediately to the Summit County Prosecutor’s office. Jon Sinn soon became one of the most successful Ohio PROSECUTORS in the state.

By the turn of the century, he developed a desire to help those accused of criminal infractions instead of prosecuting them. Today, Jon Sinn is one of the most successful Ohio criminal defense attorneys extant. Call Akron criminal defense attorney Jon Sinn at (330) 431-0160. Judicial Release

What is Ohio Revised Code 2929.20? It is known as “sentence reduction through judicial release”. These days every state, including Ohio, wants as many people released from prison as soon as possible. Do you or a loved one qualify for early release? The Buckeye State uses the term “judicial release” to describe the process formerly known as “shock probation. Attorney Jon Sinn understands judicial release.

When your judge considers judicial release they will review the applicant’s prison record. Logically, most judges believe that a positive prison record will indicate a higher likelihood of success on post-release control. An experienced criminal attorney can carefully review time spent prior to filing and assist in a judicial release motion.

Opportunites for release are few and far between. You need a lawyer with real experience in judicial release - to thoroughly prepare you for every opportunity at freedom. Attorney Jon Sinn has over 30 years experience working with judicial release in Akron and the state of Ohio. Call Jon Sinn for a free consultation at (330) 431-0160 and visit him on the web at sinnlaw.com.

Self-Defense or Manslaughter…That is the Question.

Manslaughter is a serious crime. Circumstances may be mitigated due to manslaughter based on extenuating circumstances. Manslaughter does not require malice aforethought. Because of this distinction, the punishment tends to be much less than the punishment for murder, although the punishment for manslaughter is still very serious!

Although someone may kill someone in self-defense, this type of killing is not considered a crime like manslaughter is. The American justice system recognizes the right of someone to protect himself or herself from harm. The defendant must have believed that he or she was in imminent danger of harm and that a use of force was reasonably necessary.

That is a huge difference isn’t it? The fine line between self-defense and manslaughter is often razor-thin. You need a real bulldog with decades of experience to represent you. Just such a lawyer may well be Jon Sinn an Akron criminal defense attorney. Often, the only sin you have committed is NOT calling Jon right away at (330) 431-0160.  Visit www.sinnlaw.com today.

Marijuana Laws in the Akron Area.

Has anything changed since the 2020 election? The answer around here is “not so much”. Since the state passed a medical marijuana law in 2016, not many growing sites, processing facilities and dispensaries have been approved around the Buckeye state. It has quite simply slowed down the expansion of the cannabis industry.

While dispensaries do not dot the landscape in Summit County, dispensaries have opened in Cuyahoga County and in Canton. These dispensaries offer dry buds of marijuana where people with a prescription can use these buds in vaporizers and edibles. The election of 2020 has not advanced this cause. This is NOT Oregon!

Suffice to say, you may need to elicit the services of Jon Sinn if you are detained on a drug charge in the Buckeye State. If you live in Northeastern Ohio and you have been arrested on any charge of possessing or distributing drugs call Attorney Jon Sinn. Many times, the only sin you may have committed is NOT calling Jon right away. That is sinnlaw.com at (330) 431-0160.

Being Close to Loved Ones is Not Always What It’s Cracked up to Be.

It has been a bi-product of 2020. We are confined to quarters and, as a result, familiarity may sometimes breed contempt. There is new data emerging as to the need to strengthen programs that help prevent and respond to domestic violence. There were 109 Ohioans who died as the result of domestic violence in the year ending June 30, 2020!

But, what happens when tempers rise and you are accused of domestic violence unfairly? While the data is extremely useful to help domestic-violence organizations and law enforcement evaluate interventions such as protection orders and identify ways to prevent violence fatalities, many times it comes down to “he said, she said".

That is where Akron, Ohio domestic violence defense attorney Jon Sinn comes in. If you have been accused of domestic violence in Northeast Ohio call Jon Sinn right away and visit his website at sinnlaw.com. Call 24 hours a day at (330) 431-0160.
